William Acheson Traill (1844 - 1933):
Engineer


William Traill was born in Ballylough, County Antrim, and was educated at Trinity College, Dublin where he took a degree in engineering. From 1868 to 1881 he served on the Geological Survey of Ireland and built an electrical railway from Portrush to the Giant's Causeway in 1883, the first ever constructed in the world. He was a brother of Anthony Traill.
