All contributions submitted to the Dictionary of Ulster Biography must be original, unpublished work. When submitting an article for publication the writer is confirming that the work is his or hers, and is giving the Ulster History Circle non-exclusive rights to publish it in the Dictionary. Contributors are granting permission for their material to be reprinted by interested parties for use in their free print or electronic newsletters, magazines and web sites, with the contributor's by-line included. Reproduction or use without attribution is a violation of the contributor's and the Ulster History Circle's copyright. Contributors are responsible for gaining permission to publish photographs, maps or diagrams. Where appropriate writers should, to protect themselves, secure written permission. This is particularly relevant in relation to reproductions of artefacts from museums, galleries or private collections and, of course, Ordnance Survey maps.
