Thomas Brady (c.1752 - 1827):
Thomas Brady was born in Cootehill, County Cavan, and was educated in Vienna where he was training for the priesthood. It is said that he attracted the attention of Maria Theresa. He joined her army, gaining promotion quickly and fought against Napoleon in defence of Austria. He became Privy Counsellor and a baron and Governor of Dalmatia. He married into the imperial family and died in Vienna.
