Gearoid O Nuallain was born in Omagh, County Tyrone, and was educated in Dublin and Germany. From 1909 to 1940 he was Professor of Irish at Maynooth. He wrote textbooks and short stories and among his publications are The New Era Grammar of Modern Irish; Dia Diabhail agus Daoine and Sean agus Mia. He was President of the Society for the Preservation of the Irish language.
