Dunbar Plunkett Barton (1853 - 1937):
Politician and writer


Dunbar Barton was educated in England and was called to the Bar in 1880. From 1885 to 1891 he was professor and lecturer at King's Inns and served as Unionist member of parliament for Mid-Armagh from 1893 to 1900. He was Solicitor-General from 1898 and in 1900 was appointed a judge of the High Court. He was a member of the Royal Irish Academy and the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland and he served on the Senate of the National University of Ireland. Among his publications are Bernadotte, Prince and King; Links between Ireland and Shakespeare; Timothy Healy; and Links between Shakespeare and the Law.
