George Macartney (1660 - 1730):

George Macartney was born in Belfast and joined the army, serving in Flanders and Spain. He was dismissed after the fall of Marlborough. He was accused of causing the death of the Duke of Hamilton, when he served as his second in a fatal duel. He was tried and found guilty as an accessory in 1716, but was later readmitted into the army and promoted to the rank of general. He died in London.
