Theresa, Lady Londonderry, was known as the foremost Tory political hostess of her day. She entertained royalty both at Wynyard Park, County Durham, and at Mount Stewart, County Down. Montgomery Hyde, refers to her as 'one of the most striking and dominating feminine personalities of our time...with unrivalled experience of men, and things social and political'.
