Mary A. Hutton (1862 - 1953):

Mary Hutton was born in Manchester, and was educated at University College, London. When she was forty-nine she became a convert to Roman Catholicism. She was a Celtic scholar and in 1909 was the Margaret Stokes Memorial Lecturer and a member of the Senate of Queen's University, Belfast. Among her publications are an edition of Tain Bo Cuailgne, which she spent ten years translating into English. To this she attached appendices which explained place-names, the names of people, tribes and animals and Gaelic terms:
