Richard Head is thought to have been born in Carrickfergus, County Antrim, and educated was at Oxford University. He is author of The English Rogue; The Canting Academy; Life of Mother Shipton and The Humours of Dublin. He was for a time a bookseller in London. He died in a drowning accident.
