George Hamilton was born in Armagh and was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. In 1809 he became a Church of Ireland minister. He was a biblical scholar and wrote, along with many other works, Introduction to Hebrew Scriptures and Codex Criticus of the Hebrew Bible.
