Robert Alexander Shafto Adair (c.1811 - 1886): |
Robert Adair was born in Ballymena, County Antrim, and was Member of Parliament for Cambridge from 1847 to 1852, and from 1854 to 1857. In 1869 he unsuccessfully contested East Suffolk and County Antrim. In 1872 he was created a peer. He was Lord Lieutenant of County Antrim, and a Fellow of the Royal Society. Among his works are Antrim in 1847 and Ireland and her Servile War.
