Amyas Griffiths (1746 - 1801):
Printer

Amyas Griffiths was born in Roscrea, County Tipperary. He was Surveyor of Excise at Belfast, but lost his job when he supported Waddell Cunningham, the rich Belfast merchant against the government candidate at Carrickfergus in 1785. In elections he used a portable printing press. Among his writings are Miscellaneous Tracts; a play, The Swaddler, and a volume of poetry which he published when he was sixteen.
