William Gibson (1808 - 1867):

William Gibson was born in Ballymena, County Antrim. He was educated in Belfast and Edinburgh and was ordained in the Presbyterian Church in Ballybay, County Monaghan, in 1834 . After settling in Belfast in 1842 he founded the Banner of Ulster, a newspaper which was published three times a week. In 1847 he was appointed Professor of Christian Ethics at the Presbyterian Assembly's College in Belfast. He published in 1860 The Year of Grace.
