Mrs Crichton was born in Belfast and educated at a private school in Richmond. She travelled in Italy, Switzerland and Germany and published short stories, childrens books and novels, among which are The Soundless Tide (1911); Tinker's Hollow (1912) ans The Blind Side of the Heart.
