Lily Anderson (1922 - 1982): |
Lily Anderson became a member of the Communist Party from 1942, and served on its sub-committees for education, social services and women. She was an active supporter of the Nursery Mother's Action Campaign, established in Belfast in 1964-66 to demand the provision of nursery schools, many of which had functioned during the war, but in times of peace, were felt to be 'for lazy mothers'. She was successful in obtaining two new nursery schools in Belfast. She died in an accident in Bulgaria.
