Alexander Carson was born in Stewartstown, County Tyrone, and was educated in Glasgow. He became a Presbyterian minister at Tobermore, County Londonderry, but had leanings towards Baptist theology and resigned in 1804. He wrote prolifically on theological subjects, and his work is published in six volumes. He received an honorary degree from two American universities. [Biography by Moore and Douglas]
