Francis Alison (1705 - 1779): |
Francis Alison was born in County Donegal, was educated in Glasgow, and became a Presbyterian minister. He emigrated to America in 1735 and for many years was Vice-Provost of the College of Philadelphia and pastor of the First Presbyterian Church. He died in Philadelphia, leaving instructions that all his slaves were to be freed.
