Arthur Wolfe was born in County Kildare and was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. In 1766 he was called to the Bar, and in 1783 he was elected member of parliament for Coleraine, and in 1798 for Dublin, in which year he was appointed Chief Justice. He was created Baron Kilwarden and Vice-Chancellor of Trinity College, Dublin. He supported the Union and was killed in Emmet's insurrection.
