Maurice Wilkins was born in Dublin and was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. He was headmaster of Bangor Grammar School, County Down, from 1923 to 1947. As a poet he published Poems of Love and Human Freedom, Sonnets of Love and Friendship and The Seeker. He also published Old boys of Bangor Grammar School killed in Second World War (1939-1945).
