Stopford Augustus Brooke (1832 - 1916):

Stopford Brooke was born in Glendoen, County Donegal, and was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. After he had taken holy orders, he was chaplain to Queen Victoria and her daughter, the Empress of Germany, though he later became a Unitarian. For many years he was president of the Irish Literary Society in London and editor of a Treasury of Irish Poetry. Among his publications are sermons, poems, essays and criticism. [Biography by L. P.
