Cormac Breslin was born in County Donegal and was educated at St Eunan's College, Letterkenny. From 1937 to 1977 he was a Dail deputy. He was Leas Ceann Comhairle from 1951 to 1967 and Ceann Comhairle from 1967 to 1973.
