Gordon O'Neill was the son of Sir Phelim O'Neill and was Lieutenant and member of parliament for Tyrone in 1689. He fought in the Battle of the Boyne and at Aughrim and was left for dead on the battlefield. He later went to France and served in the Irish Brigade.
