Redmond O'Gallagher was born in Raphoe, County Donegal. In 1545 he was consecrated Bishop of Killala. He was translated to Derry in 1569 and was appointed Vice-Primate in 1570. It is said that he helped survivors of the Spanish Armada in 1588, but he was killed by English soldiers at Killea, County Londonderry. [Biography by Bishop O'Doherty]
