James Kidd (1761 - 1834):

James Kidd was born in Loughbrickland, County Down, and in 1784 emigrated to America. He taught himself Hebrew and other eastern languages and returned to Edinburgh to study. In 1793 he was appointed Professor of Oriental Languages at Aberdeen University. In 1796 he procured a license to preach, and his sermons were extremely popular. He published many theological works and died in Aberdeen.
