Hugh George Kidd (1824 - 1895):

George Kidd was born in Armagh, and was educated in Dublin and Edinburgh. He became a Licentiate of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland and practiced medicine in Edinburgh. He served as Master of Coombe Hospital for seven years from 1876. He was a leading obstetrician and surgeon and was a founder of the Stewart Institute for Imbeciles. In 1876 he was President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and he edited for many years the Dublin Journal of Medical Science.
