Adam Averell (1754 - 1847): |
Adam Averell was born in Mullan, County Tyrone, and was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. Having been ordained, he was appointed curate of Aghaboe and became acquainted with John Wesley, under whose influence he became a Methodist. He relinquished his wife, property and parish 'to unreservedly devote himself to preaching in different parts of the country'. He kept a journal and having left the mainstream Methodists, served as President of the Primitive Wesleyan Conference for nearly thirty years.
