James Glass established a business as a portrait and landscape photographer in Derry city in 1870. His speciality was portraits finished in crayon, oil or watercolour and some were executed on porcelain. He is remembered for an album of twenty-four photographs which he took in the Gweedore district, County Donegal, and is a unique record of the life of the people.
