John Gamble (1770 - 1831): |
John Gamble was born in Strabane, County Tyrone, and was educated in Edinburgh, where he became a doctor. He served as a surgeon in the army, and after a trip to Holland returned home. He travelled the country and wrote novels and prose sketches which reflect life in Ulster in the early nineteenth century. His titles include Sarsfield, or Wanderings of Youth; Howard and Northern Irish Tales.
