St. George Ashe (c.1658 - 1718): |
St George Ashe was born in Roscommon and was educated at Trinity College, Dublin, where he was later appointed Provost. He became Bishop of Cloyne, Clogher and Derry, and as a friend of Jonathan Swift, is reputed to have officiated at the alleged marriage of Swift and Stella in 1716.
