Thomas Crawford (1824 - 1895):

Thomas Crawford was born in County Down, and was educated in Edinburgh after which he entered the army medical service. He served in Burma and the Crimea with the 18th Royal Irish, and in India during the Mutiny. He was promoted to surgeon-general in 1876, and became director-general of the medical department of the army. He was knighted for his services.
