Arthur Campbell was born near Derry. He worked all his life on methods of establishing fundamental electrical standards. He made a major contribution under Sir Richard Glazebrook to the National Physical Laboratory, the reputation of which became world-wide. He was awarded the Duddell Medal of the Physical Society.
