Stanley Woods was born in Dublin, but moved to Downpatrick, County Down. Between 1923 and 1939 he won ten TT victories in the Isle of Man motorcycle races. He also won the Ulster Grand Prix seven times on the Clady course. He donated most of his trophies to the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum at Cultra.
