Charles Wolfe (1791 - 1823):
Cleric, Church of Ireland and poet


Charles Wolfe was born in Blackhall, County Kildare, and was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. He was ordained in 1817 and held the curacy of Ballyclog, County Tyrone, and later Donoughmore, County Down. He was a poet and on the 19th of April, 1817, published his lyric 'The Burial of Sir John Moore at Corunna' in the Newry Telegraph. He died in Queenstown. [Memoir by J. A. Russell]
