Daniel Wilson was born in Limerick and was educated at the Royal Belfast Acdemical Institution and Trinity College, Dublin. He was called to the Bar and sat on the bench of the King's Inns. He was Unionist member of parliament for West Down from 1918 to 1921, and from 1919 to 1921 was Solicitor-General. He was then appointed a judge of the newly established Supreme Court of Northern Ireland.
