James Ward was born and educated in Belfast and studied at the Royal College of Art, London. He exhibited at the Royal Acdemy and was appointed Principal of the Metropolitan School of Art, Dublin in 1907. Among his publications are Studies for Decorative Design and Fresco Painting: Its Art and Technique.
