George Vaughan Stephenson (1901 - 1970):
Rugby player


George Stephenson was educated at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution, and later became a Doctor of Medicine. He played rugby for Queen's University, Belfast, and London Hospitals. Between 1920 and 1930 he won forty-two rugby international caps for Ireland. Until very recently he had scored more international tries than any other Irishman. During his last three seasons in the side he captained the Irish team.
