John Skeffington was born in Dublin and was educated at Eton and Oxford University. He wrote a Metrical Version of the Psalms, Church Melodies and, along with other volumes of poetry, O'Sullivan. He was the 10th Viscount Massareene, and he died in Antrim Castle.
