Edward Southwell Ruthven (c.1772 - 1836):

Edward Ruthven was born in County Down and was educated at Trinity College, Dublin, and Oxford University. He assumed the surname Ruthven rather than his family name, Trotter. He was Member of Parliament for Downpatrick in 1806 and again from 1830 to 1832 and for Dublin City (together with O'Connell) and was returned again in 1835 but was unseated. He was an advanced radical reformer. He fought a duel with Louis Perrin. He died in Westminster.
