Eleanor Alexander was born in Strabane, County Tyrone, daughter of Archbishop William Alexander, and Mrs CF Alexander, the noted hymn writer. She was educated at home and wrote poetry published in the Spectator and other periodicals. Her novels include Lady Anne's Walk; The Rambling Rector (1904) and The Lady of the Well.
