Richard Robinson (c.1709 - 1794):
Archbishop, Church of Ireland
Richard Robinson was born in Yorkshire and came to Ireland as chaplain to the Duke of Dorset. In 1765 he was made Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland, and in 1777, Baron Rokeby. He built himself a palace in Armagh, was responsible for the construction of the public library, and in 1789, built the observatory at his own expense.
