Henry Riddell (1851 - 1923):
Henry Riddell was born in Belfast and was educated at Belfast Model School and Belfast Academy. Before entering Queen's College, Belfast, to study engineering in 1876, he was apprenticed at Milford Mill. He turned down a professorship in Newfoundland to go into business as an engineer and eventually became managing director of his father's business. He was a member of Belfast Corporation and of the Senate at Queen's University, Belfast. He served as Honorary Treasurer of the Belfast Natural History and Philosophical Society and also as its President from 1921 to 1923.
