Muriel Brandt was born in Belfast, attended the Royal College of Art in London, and later married and settled in Dublin. She was commisioned to paint the portraits of many Dublin notables, among them Sir Alfred Chester Beatty. She also painted the panels in the Franciscan church of Adam and Eve, on Merchant's Quay, Dublin.
