Seamas O Searcaigh was born in County Donegal and was educated at Queen's University, Belfast. He was a lecturer in the Department of Celtic Studies, University College, Dublin, and at Maynooth. He was President of the Irish College of Cloghaneely (Falcarragh), County Donegal. His publications include, Faire Phaidi Mhoir; Ceol Na nEan agus gealta ail; Foghraidheacht Ghaeilge an Tuaiscirt; Padraig Mac Piarais and Beatha Cholm Cille.
