Andrew Thomas Blayney (1770 - 1834):

Andrew Blayney, 11th Baron Blayney, was born in Castleblayney, County Monaghan. He joined the army in 1789 and fought in Flanders, Egypt, the Cape and the Peninsular War, where he was taken prisoner in 1810. He was held for four years and wrote an account of his imprisonment. In 1819 he attained the rank of lieutenant-general.
